stuff to sort

Well am plodding on with this 4mation project, I'm still in search for the correct program in which to produce my concept. Also next week is my tutorial with paul or dave so I need to sort out my ppd folder, wont be hard a got me work just need to sort it out. LATERS !!!

work and snow

well its been a tuff week, with all the snow and trouble of making it into college, well I only missed wednesday and the snow was really, really bad that day. Anyway I've just been coming up with ideas for my groups 4-mation ident. Since that I've been the only one in coming up with these ideas, it stands to reason that my ideas are going to be used, so I win by default yey!

The Gas

Transformers ruined...AGAIN !!!!!!

Maybe some people know, maybe they don't but hasbro are getting they're own channel called 'HUB', which is pretty cool coz hasbro do the transformers toys.

What isn't cool is this new transformers series that they will be showing this november. The new show is named "Transformers: Prime", it sounds good but from what i've seen I'm not holding my breath, especially after that "Transformers: Animated" fiasco!

I've got some images of the designs for the new series as well as the original designs.

The new designs are the work of Jose Lopez, who designed the characters from "The Batman"

Ok first up we got Optimus Prime, leader of the heroic Autobots. Right of the bat... no sir I don't like it. They went with the live action Prime in this design and that includes, thats right G1 fans, a movable face plate that reveals a mouth. Prime does not need a mouth his sheer awesomeness creates sounds that the other characters interpret as words! I am thankful that this design does no include the stupid spray on flames that the live-action version does. This version is voiced by Peter Cullen, who voiced the original and the movie version.

This design of Ratchet the Autobot medic, I'm not to fussed on, it looks more G1 than the movies version of Ratchet ever did. The thing that i can't get over is the fact that this Ratchet, an Autobot is voiced by Jeffery Combs, as in the Re-animator! his voice is terrifying! what's he doing voicing one of the good guys its a waste of talent! Still I'm intrigued to see how that turns out.

Not a car. Not pink. Not Arcee. 'Nuff said.

Megatron evil leader of the Decepticons and look what they've done to him! They've made him bland there's like no colour (yes, I'm english deal with it) to this guy that's supposed to strike terror into the sparks of Autobots, this looks like he could spark a fire. They've kept his helmet from G1 albeit some changes and his plasma cannon they've shrunk it, I mean why! The only saving grace is that they've brought back Frank Welker the original to voice Megatron again and there is Megatron like Franks Megatron.

Starscream 2nd in command of the Decepticons, master of deceit and betrayal and look what the new show has turned him into, a grey, no neck, skinny thing in high heels with pointy fingers. Why? They've replaced his null cannon with missiles, maybe they'll still shoot lasers I don't know, I'll have to wait and see. This version will probably have a deep booming voice, instead of the whiney, high pitched voice we all love.

And here we have Soundwave my absolute favorite character from the original series. And they've transformed him into a new age Cylon. There is nothing of the original character in this design. I am utterly disappointed in this, to me, thats not even a little bit Soundwave.

From what i've seen and gathered from these designs, is that the producers of the new show are under the illusion that the Autobots and Decepticons are of a completely different species of robot from each other. They are not, they are two factions of the same race, so god only knows why Autobots are beefed up and in colour and the Decepticons are grey and pointy looking.

Ok so nerd rage has ended, I will most likely wind up watching this new series when it debuts, just to see whether my fear of another "Transformers: Animated" are justified.

Oh and one more thing, These my own opinions, just to get that clear. This post is how I feel about "Transformers: Prime", if other people are bit more positive about the show and designs, great everyone has there on taste, mine just happen to be stuck in the 80's.

Here's my group pixilation video !! had a lot of fun making this video, everyone in the group really brought something to the whole concept. If we had to do it again I'd suggest throwing in a chase scene or something, get some different views.

some awesome Star Wars animation videos !!

hello blog peeps got some star wars themed videos for you today.

As most people know i am a huge star wars fan, seen the films (love the original, loathe the new ones), read the books and comics, played the games, pretty much every media star wars has been involved with, good moneys on that i've had my hands on it. It is probably my biggest influence to date, the awesome story, the richness of the characters (boba"the man"fett) so here are some various animated clips of the star wars saga !!

Heres a trailer for the up coming Bioware game Star Wars the Old Republic. It's really a shame how a games company can surpass Lucas's prequel monstrosities i.e jar jar binks, while bioware makes an awesome 4 minute trailer.

Next up is a music video for Mc Chris's song IG-88 based upon the droid character from the Empire Strikes Back. Some people may recognize Mc Chris from his portrayal as Mc Pee Pants from Adults Swim Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Unfortunately I'm unaware whether this is an official music video or its a fan creation.

Finally here's a video of 2 tv spots for the game Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2. These games look awesome carrying on from the original game taking force powers to the extreme melting stormtroopers and crushing tie fighters with your mind !

Skill Set Thingy

Ok two posts in one day weird... anyway, Here's a brief rundown of my strengths and weaknesses

Strengths:

• Awesome Imagination (years of cartoons and books, thank you)
• Competent art skills (always improving)
• Whizz on Illustrator
• Storyteller (script writer)
• Confident speaker

Weaknesses:

• 3D work (bane of my life, can build models but can't rig them, must work on this)
• easily distracted (like a moth, I swear to god)
• get to caught up in writing stories ( I focus on one event and i spin out of control)

Am sure there's more to both categories but these are the main one to focus and work on.

ANIMATIONS YEAH!!!!!

ok got some cool animations for you all to check out. Some flash stuff and some more traditional animations from the 80's the golden age of animation in my opinion, NOW THAT I'VE SAID IT, IT MUST BE TRUE !!!!!!

Ok first up is a flash animation Press Start Bonus Levels, these animations can be found on their website DarkMazeStudios.com, youtube and newgrounds.

Okey Dokey now we got a flash animation by Jazza Studios this guys stuff can be found on youtube and newgrounds, slight warning it's a bit sick.

Finally I've been able to get a decent video of Paul "Otaking" Johnson's Doctor Who Anime, this is a fan based animation tis so cool, full of nerdy goodness.

This next animation is a bit more traditional than the rest, Dead Space Downfall, based on the video game, pretty gruesome but really enjoyable.

This is the animation that made me fall in love with animation, I recently found a decent copy of a couple of weeks a go and I still love it, for me this is what animation should be. So here's a clip of my favorite scene from one of my favorite movie's ever Flight of Dragons.

This clip's only real purpose is to strengthen the point that I feel and will always feel that the 80's was the greatest time for animation. The stories and characters of that time inspire me to this day and this clip is the 80's !!!

So much better than the new movies.

Paul 'Otaking' Johnson

This guy is a must see for all Doctor Who fans everywhere. Mr. Johnson here is in the stages of making a Doctor Who animated short, but what's makes this even more awesome, its done in the style of 1980s anime like Robotech otherwise known as Macross.

From what i've been able to gather, this short is going to be in the style of a preview of a next episode, like "Next time on Doctor Who !" I'm really looking forward to the finished product.
